BPCA Committees and Special Interest Groups

BPCA has four committees to drive the Association's functions, with an Executive Board member chairing each. Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are open to everyone and are focused around specific pest management themes.

Committees of the Board

All full members have the opportunity to join our committees, and influence changes both in the Association and the wider industry.

Each committees' responsibility is to represent the ideas, decisions and proposals of their peers to the Executive Board and influence the strategy and direction of the Association. The Chair of each committee is responsible for ensuring the Executive Board is fully aware of what is happening in the industry sector represented by each committee.

BPCA Technical Committee (TC)

This committee focus on the provision of pest management services, best practices and guidance. They also look after matters relating to member services and benefits

BPCA Outreach and Communications Committee (O&C)

This committee looks at our channels of communication and their effectiveness.

It also considers how we extend the reach of our communications and support communication in the critical market sectors (food, retail, facilities management, housing, etc) where we seek to raise awareness of BPCA membership.

BPCA Professional Standards Committee (PS)

This committee was established to support the Executive Board in reviewing and formulating strategies for promoting professionalism across BPCA’s membership.

It manages the review and implementation of any amendment to professional requirements. It also works to ensure adherence to BPCA’s Code of Conduct and have oversight of complaints.

BPCA Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (EDI) 

This committee was established to support the Executive Board in tackling recruitment and retention issues within the sector. Overall, the aim of the committee is to encourage people into the pest management sector and let them see that it does not matter what background you come from – pest management will welcome you.

It provides strategic oversight and direction to the equality, diversity and inclusion work of both the Association and the pest management sector as a whole.

Special interest groups

Special interest groups are informal meeting about specific pest management themes that report directly to different BPCA committees. 

Fumigation and Controlled Environments (FaCE) group

This specialist group aims to review any issues relating to fumigation and the use of phosphine, heat, cold and other methods. Their aim is to align practises, codes and professionalism across the FaCE industry

British Pest Control Association BPCA BeeWise Conservation and management of bees special interest group

BeeWise: Conservation and management of bees group

BeeWise is a special interest group of volunteers looking to improve, on behalf of the industry and wider community, the knowledge, treatment and conservation of Bee species in the UK, but most particularly Bumble and Honey Bees.

BirdWise: Bird management group

BirdWise is a special interest group of volunteers responsible for creating and/ or improving the availability of bird-related and specific guidance, advice and best practice to BPCA member companies.

WildWise: Wildlife management group 

WildWise is a special interest group for anyone that either does wildlife management or has an interest in wildlife management.

The Association also has a number of forums, which are set up to address specific issues, and may run for a limited time.

Register your interest in join

Volunteering with BPCA and joining a group requires committing to around four online or in-person meetings a year and some individual work outside meetings.   

Upon joining a BPCA group, you must agree to the Terms of Reference, BPCA Code of Conduct and BPCA Confidentiality Agreement. These documents will be available for you to read when your application is successful.

Your application will be seen by the chair or a Committee or group and the BPCA Staff team. Joining a Committee or group is by invitation and you might be asked to observe a meeting before you join a group formally.
