CRRU Ireland gets tenth sponsor

The Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use Ireland (CRRU Ireland) has been strengthened by the addition of a tenth sponsor member - Pied Piper Chemicals Limited of Ballinure, Thurles.

This is particularly timely according to CRRU chairman Mark Lynch,

"The addition of a tenth CRRU Ireland Sponsor follows the publication of the Best Practice Requirements for Rodent Control and Safe Use of Rodenticides. This handbook is essential for rodent pest management technicians, Quality Assurance auditors and inspectors and is a most welcome resource to support the work of CRRU Ireland. "

CRRU provides guidance on rodent control for professional pest management officers and aims to improve the effectiveness of rodent pest control programmes while minimising risks that arise for non-target species such as Barn Owls, Red Kites, Buzzards, Kestrels, Peregrine Falcons, Stoats and Pine Martens.

CRRU Ireland appreciates anticoagulant rodenticides are essential to ensure the protection of human and animal health and to maintain food hygiene. CRRU champion best practice in order to avoid widespread contamination of non-target wildlife, some of which are of high conservation value.

CRRU chairman Mark Lynch concluded,

'Having Pied Piper Chemicals Ltd alongside our existing campaign members adds valuable weight to the work of CRRU Ireland'
