Overview
During the course you will gain knowledge and understanding around the following topics:
- The importance of pollinators to mankind
- Identification, characteristics and behaviours of the key Bumblebee species
- Visual differences between Honeybees and Wasps
- Habitat conservation
- Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities and practices
- Access to specialist advice.
Upon completion of the programme you will:
- Know how to recognise the differences between Bumble and Honeybee Species and their individual nesting habits and behaviour
- Understand the importance of pollinators and mankind’s reliance on them
- Know how to recognise which species are seasonal and those that are not
- Know how to recognise and distinguish between conflict and non-conflict species and situations
- Know how to give the correct advice to householders and other stakeholders when conflict situations cannot be resolved
- Know how to carry out all work in accordance with relevant environmental and health and safety legislation.

Classroom programme
This is a one day, classroom-based course.
9 am start, 5 pm finish.
Minimum Age Statement
Young persons under the age of 18 years are often exposed to risks to their health and safety when using work equipment as a consequence of their immaturity, lack of experience of absence awareness of existing or potential risks. Therefore, such young people should not be allowed to operate equipment without supervision unless they have the necessary competence and maturity, as well as having successfully completed appropriate training (The Health and Safety (Young Persons) regulation 1997).

Assessments

Assessment will be a through a written multiple choice test at the end of the course.
Upon successful completion of the candidates will receive a UKRS Certificate valid for 3 years.
This qualification is awarded by UK Rural Skills.
