Pest Control Officers - Southampton City Council

Job Overview

We are looking for Pest Control Officers to work within the Council’s Pest Control & Specialist Cleansing team providing a service to residents and businesses across the City.

Description

SCC

This will entail responding to customer requests to deal with rats and mice;  insect pests such as wasps, fleas, bedbugs and cockroaches; and pigeon proofing or extermination.Our other duties are in the field of public hygiene/cleansing which can involve dealing with used syringes, or blood and body discharges in premises or in the community, and assisting with the Healthcare Waste collection service.

Successful candidates will be 

  • experienced in the use of poisonous materials and pesticides
  • able to deliver a professional service to residents and businesses
  • flexible in their approach to work and be prepared to undertake training from time to time.
  • physically able and willing to undertake other duties relating to more specialised public health cleansing.

Ideally you will hold the Royal Society of Health Certificate in Pest Control or equivalent qualification.

A full driving licence is essential for this role.

37 hours a week with a standby and call out allowance
