The cheque was presented to the charity on Thursday 16 February by Shield Pest Control’s Managing Director, Daniel Steward and Shield team members, Alison Bennett and Emily Boorman, along with Charity Fund and Plowden Medal Manager of the Royal Warrant Holders Association Charity Fund, Claire Anderson.

Christine Harris, Deputy Mayor of Bromley and Bromley Borough Councillor, attended the event of handing the cheque to Chief Operating Officer of Bromley Foodbank, Amanda Stone.

The donation will be going towards providing nutritionally-balanced emergency food and supermarket vouchers to support local individuals within the Bromley borough.

Amanda Stone, Chief Operating Officer of Bromley Borough Foodbank, commented: “The support from Shield Pest Control and the Royal Warrant Holders Association Charity Fund has been invaluable.

"The amount donated will provide immediate support for those in need and we couldn’t be more thankful for their generosity.”

Working together to help to stop hunger in the local community, the food bank was founded by local churches and community groups in the area.

Supported by the Trussell Trust and part of the nationwide network of food banks, the charity provides seven days’ worth of nutritious food to support those who are referred to them locally, helping individuals to get back onto their feet.

This is higher than the recommended amount by the Trussell Trust, and so has a better impact on clients’ wellbeing, giving them more breathing space. The food bank have said that the charity is fortunate to have received donations to allow them to do this.

Shield Pest Control’s Managing Director, Daniel Steward, said: “The cost-of-living crisis has been extremely tough for many people who are struggling to afford daily necessities such as food items. We were keen to support the local community and provide help for those who are in need, in the aim to reduce hunger in the area."

Bromley Borough Foodbank is an extremely worthy cause and one that we look forward to continuing to support in the future.

Royal Warrant Holders Association’s Charity Fund and Plowden Medal Manager, Claire Anderson added: “It has been fantastic to work alongside Shield Pest Control to donate funds. With the food bank’s help, local individuals can get emergency food when required, something that we are passionate about supporting."

To raise further funds for the charity, Bromley Borough Foodbank and Shield Pest Control’s team members will also be taking part in a half-marathon charity walk later this year, with the business matching funds raised by members of staff.

Shield Pest Control has been a Royal Warrant Holder since 2008 and is one of the very few pest control businesses to be granted a warrant.

With an outstanding reputation, Shield Pest Control works with a wide variety of domestic and commercial clients and is known for its excellent standard of service and experience.
