Invasive species cost the economy nearly £2 billion per annum, threaten many native species and ecosystems, and some pose a threat to human health.

The number of species becoming established is increasing and we need to do more to counter this growing threat.

The refreshed GB Invasive Non-native Species Strategy (due to be published by January 2023) is designed to provide a framework for increased delivery, with the establishment in 2022 of a Non-native Species Inspectorate critical to ensuring better compliance and enforcement.

We will outline progress, detail new priorities and species threats - including how pest controllers can help in the critical work of the inspectorate and delivering the GB Strategy more widely.
