Salary: £29,717 to £31,424

We are currently engaged with a wide range of clients, including Oxford City Council, Colleges and Local Oxford Business. Working within the world famous Oxford Colleges and Oxfords Historic covered market, dealing with a variety of developments ranging from small and large scale domestic to commercial premises and you could be part of this process.
As a Pest Control Surveyor your role will be to ensure that the high standards of service and experience are maintained and that Oxford Direct Services Pest Control Team grows from strength to strength. You will be part of a team that delivers results while providing excellent customer service and dealing with a wide range of issues and customers. The team have access to state of the art heat treatment the first unit of its kind in the country 

Role Purpose
Carry out pest control treatments in Domestic and Commercial premises and adjacent external areas as required

Maintain accurate records of all pest control treatments carried either in writing or using handheld electronic devices

Liaise effectively as necessary with officers in other business units, in relation to work undertaken on Council land/property, by providing advice on all pest species and non-target species

Role responsibilities and main duties

Take responsibility for pest control casework with internal teams, external agencies and organisation as required with the aim of providing a successful outcome.

Carry out routine visits to premises/land under contract for survey and treatment, problem solving as appropriateComplete treatment reports and conveying the information to our customers.

Carry out joint inspections with the Highways and Engineering Team to identify defects in drainage systems where rat activity is current and offer an effective solution.

Lead on or assist with external domestic drainage camera surveys using the teams’ CCTV equipment

Respond in a timely manner, to service requests, surveying, assessing and treating premises/land as appropriate, including producing quotations and estimates.

Provide advice to internal and external customers on pest control matters and identify and report potential issues which could cause pest problems in the future.

Display knowledge and compliance with the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use.

Work to develop commercial pest control contracts by identifying opportunities, quoting and closing sales.

Collect and receipt on site, payments made in cash or by cheque.

Keep up to date with latest pest control industry news, techniques and products.

Keep clean and tidy work vehicle, equipment and PPE, reporting any defects found.

Take special care in the maintenance and storage of air weapons and controlled substances.

Use air weapons safely to control avian and rodent pest species.

Carry out specialist heat treatment works to control inspect pest species such as bed bugs, using the teams heat treatment machinery.

Carry out toxic waste clearance of avian and rodent pest species fouling and the removal of avian and rodent dead bodies.

Work at height to carry out avian pest species proofing and/or carry pest surveys at heightCarry out rodent pest species proofing work, using specialist products and power tools.

Attend Court on cases of alleged environmental health breaches etc and attend Oxford City Council and Oxford Direct Services meetings as required.

Essential Criteria

RSPH Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in Pest Management

Full, Valid, UK driving licence or (European Equivalent) maximum 5 penalty points

Significant experience working as a pest control technician 

Experience with the use of air weapons in a pest control environment

Experience of working at heights

Ability to communicate clearly in plain English including in writing, over the phone and face to face

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Good working knowledge of modern pest control techniques

Experience of insect identification within a pest control environment

Ability to carry out physical work e.g. carry heavy equipment, climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces etc


Desirable Criteria

Experience of handling cash

Experience of selling pest control treatments and products

Knowledge of relevant legislation in the area of Pest Control such as Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949

Good working knowledge of drainage systems and associated pest problems and solutions
