To support those who have given their time and input to drive professionalism within the sector and used their own knowledge, skills and experience to benefit others working in pest management, we have introduced our new Master Technician category within BPCA Registered.

Overview of criteria
Available ONLY upon application. All applications will be reviewed by the BPCA Professional Standards Committee's assessment panel for approval.
Prerequisites
- 10 years working within the industry
- Letter of commendation from an industry peer
- BPCA member
- BPCA Registered member.
Assessment
Written portfolio, which should be supported with evidence clearly linked to the project or experience you are describing (see portfolio contents).
Re-submissions
Where an application has been returned as unsuccessful by the Working Group Assessor, a period of at least one year must elapse before a further submission will be accepted.

Personal statement
200-400 words | 10 marks
The personal statement should clearly articulate your motivations, skills and experiences related to becoming a Master Technician. It’s an opportunity to showcase your unique qualities and demonstrate your strength as a candidate. Your personal statement should include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Explain your passion for pest management and how it aligns with your career goals
- Highlight skills, knowledge and experience (academic, work, volunteer, etc) that make you a good fit for the Master Technician accreditation
- Briefly mention notable achievements, especially those that demonstrate relevant skills or qualities
- Outline your aspirations and how being accredited as a Master Technician will help you achieve them
- Distinguish yourself by highlighting unique skills, experience or passions
- Outline specific areas of interest or specialisms.
Site experience
500-1,000 words | 20 marks
Provide up to four examples of work you have undertaken on sites where there has been a considerable challenge. Where possible, these examples should encompass a range of environments, including urban, industrial, rural, and commercial settings. You should include details of the challenges faced, how these were overcome and the impact your work had on the site overall.
Within each example, you should provide details of any innovative or creative solutions utilised. Within each example provided, your role and level of involvement should be clearly stated and supported by evidence.
Species experience
500-1,000 words | 20 marks
Provide details of up to three species of pests that you have come across during your career, which are/were unusual or non-native. Within each example, you should include what you learned whilst dealing with these pests, how this helped you develop your skills and knowledge and how you shared this information with the industry.
Industry engagement
400-750 words | 15 marks
Provide details of where you have provided leadership skills, either within your own business or to the wider industry. You should include details of the challenges faced, how you overcame these and the positive impacts that resulted. Your submission should clearly define your leadership style, how you’ve influenced others, and your ability to achieve goals through teamwork and strategic thinking.
Leadership
400-750 words | 20 marks
Provide details of where you have provided leadership skills, either within your own business or to the wider industry. You should include details of the challenges faced, how you overcame these and the positive impacts that resulted.
Exceptional customer service
400-750 words | 15 marks
Provide up to three examples of where you have exceeded customer, client, or line manager expectations. For each example, you should include background information, details of activities, challenges faced and outcomes. Within your portfolio submission, you should include at least two customer satisfaction references.
