TRAINING

BPCA members are invited to join the UK Bee Removers (UKBR) for a free disease recognition training day this August.

The event is being run in partnership with the National Bee Unit and takes place at Sparsholt College, Hampshire on Thursday 28 August 2025. Around 20 places are still available, and they’re going fast.

This free training is designed specifically for those who carry out live honey bee removals. It will focus on:

  • Identifying notifiable diseases and pests in honey bee colonies
  • Improving biosecurity
  • What to do if you suspect disease during a removal.

Clive Stewart, Operations Director at UKBR, said:

“This kind of training is absolutely vital for anyone removing bees from buildings. Recognising diseases early and responding properly helps protect our bee populations, the public, and other colonies. If you're doing live removals, we’d love to see you there.”

To book a space, BPCA members can email sarah@ukbr.org for more information.
