BPCA negotiates lateral flow Covid-19 test discounts for pest professionals

After feedback from several member companies, BPCA has negotiated a discount on novel coronavirus antigen detection kits for the entire UK pest control sector.

BPCA negotiates Lateral Flow Covid-19 test discounts for pest professionals

While Covid-19 tests are freely available to UK businesses via the government’s testing programme, many pest professionals told us that it is impractical for them to access the tests.

More information on free government tests

BPCA has secured this offer to give companies the option for protecting their employees and reassuring their clients.

Why buy a test if you can get them free from the government?

The government is providing many businesses with free testing kits for Covid-19 very quickly.

However, when the government sends out kits, they contain 25 swabs and only one Colloidal Gold buffer solution.

Once the buffer solution is opened, it has a very short shelf life, meaning an entire team of 25 need to be in the same place at roughly the same time. The test also cannot be issued concurrently, which is logistically challenging.

This is potentially impractical for many pest management companies, with technician’s working in different areas or not having easy access to a central hub.

The tests BPCA has secured the discount on come individually packed with buffer solution, giving pest professionals the option to do tests at home without travelling to a central location to be tested.

The government-issued tests cannot be performed simultaneously or self-administered.

Are the tests the same as the government issued kits?

No. The kits we’ve procured the discount for are the only lateral flow Covid-19 testing kits that can be self-administered and performed in four different ways.

These include non-invasive shallow nasal or sputum samples.

The tests are +98% accurate, with results in 15 minutes, making them ideal for testing before work or between client’s sites.

The tests are ISO 13485 certified and are approved for use by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The supplier we’re working with also provides tests for Team GB Olympics.

What does it cost?

Boxes of 25 RRP (per box) With BPCA discount (per box)
1 £249.75 £199.75
2-4 £237.25 £181
5-10 £212.25 £175

Does BPCA get a commission or paid in any way?

No. BPCA has simply used our influence and knowledge of the sector’s requirements to secure this deal.

This is by no means the cheapest solution on the market. However, we believe it is a solution that will appeal to many pest management companies. Ie:

  • It can be taken individually at home or in a van
  • The tests are individually packaged and easy to distribute
  • They can be taken in multiple ways without the need for an invasive nasal swab
  • They arrive from the supplier next-day.

Is this for members only?

No. We’ve opened up this offer to any pest professional in the UK to try and support as many people as possible.

Does BPCA recommend this test over the government issued test or other tests on the market?

No. We believe these tests will be useful for many pest management companies. However, you should make sure they are suitable for your company.

Do your own research. Speak to the supplier and look into the free tests the government can provide.

How do I purchase and get the discount?

Anyone who uses this special BPCA email address to order tests will be able to receive the discount.
