With the now well-documented restrictions on 'sticky boards' following the Glue Traps (Offences) Act 2022 Act coming into force in England last year, both pest controllers and clients alike, have reportedly seen increases in both mice and rat activity.

Before the new legislation, glue traps were a solution in many situations and although controversial, they gave the more immediate result demanded by customers.

While the options to a pest controller are reduced, they aren't just limited to snap traps and rodenticides, which can present their own problems around behavioural and physiological resistance.

360 Wildlife Control offers subcontracted services for instant rat and mouse removal.

But the day of the dog is back with a vengeance in the form of purpose bred and trained rodent detection canines.

Life goes in circles and this method goes back to Victorian rat catchers and further.

The 360 Jack Russell team are hyper focused on finding mice and rats, with 100% success rates and instant dispatch if required.

So how does this work and what can it do to fill in the void of the sticky boards?

Normally if used in a warehouse, distribution centre or retailer, the team arrive out of hours and with often a short window before another shift sign in.

The detection dogs will expediently mark live rodents, whether in pallets, under shelves, in cavity walls and so on, and if requested the area can be cordoned off and the rodents dispatched if accessible.

The sniffer dogs locate not only the rodent’s harbourage, but often any holes and weaknesses in the proofing, that can then be dealt with.

In heavy infestations, such as recycling centres, large quantities of rats can be removed in mere hours.

The 360 team also offer covert nighttime shooting using the most cutting-edge thermal imaging combined with state of the art, highly tuned air rifles.

This is a stake out method. The team, work out of hours, heavily safety briefed and placing themselves in the likely areas, waiting patiently for a heat source of a mouse or rat to appear, that can be dispatched.

The truly amazing thermals show even a small head poking out of a shelf, or mice running under pallets.

Both methods offer instant and physical results, as part of any rodent management programme.

360 wildlife team work as subcontractors, adding a profitable addition to any pest control business.
