British Pest Control Association (BPCA) has been voted into the Alliance of Chemical Associations (ACA), strengthening the Association’s voice on chemical regulation and public health policy. 

The ACA brings together UK trade associations that represent businesses across the chemical supply chain, from manufacturers and distributors through to downstream users.  

By joining the Alliance, BPCA will now work alongside other sectors to present a coordinated, evidence-based case to government and regulators. 

For BPCA members, this means stronger and more consistent lobbying on chemical regulation that directly affects professional pest management.  

Many of the tools used by the sector sit within wider chemical frameworks, so decisions made without proper industry input can have unintended consequences for public health, food safety and environmental protection. 

Rosina Robson, Chief Executive of BPCA, said: 

“Professional pest management sits right at the intersection of public health, environmental protection and chemical regulation. Being part of the Alliance of Chemical Associations gives us a much stronger platform to make sure the voice of our sector is heard clearly and constructively.” 

Through the ACA, BPCA will be able to jointly represent the pest management sector on shared challenges, including the UK’s post-Brexit regulatory landscape, the operation of UK REACH, and the need for proportionate, risk-based regulation.

BPCA has already met with senior officials at HSE and Department for Business & Trade (DBT) alongside this group.

A collective approach also helps ensure policymakers hear from those who use products professionally and responsibly, not just from those who manufacture them. 

Rosina added: 

“Effective regulation must be based on evidence and real-world use. Working alongside other trade associations allows us to push for fair, proportionate rules that protect people and the environment, while still supporting innovation and maintaining access to the tools professionals need to do their jobs safely.” 

By joining forces with fellow trade bodies through the ACA, BPCA is strengthening its lobbying capability and reinforcing the role of professional pest management as an essential public health service in the UK.
