BPCA celebrates World Pest Day with social media takeover

WORLD PEST DAY

To mark World Pest Day on 6 June, British Pest Control Association (BPCA) handed over our social media platforms to the real heroes of the industry—frontline pest technicians.

Five technicians from BPCA member companies took the reins of BPCA’s social media accounts for the day, offering followers a behind-the-scenes look at a typical day in the life of a professional pest controller.

The technicians who took part were:

  • Aislyn Risk, Pest Solutions
  • Harry Leyland, Pestforce Doncaster
  • Elsie Anderson, Pest Solutions
  • Carl and Craig Hoult, Reaper Bird Control.

Each technician shared their unique experiences, showcasing everything from rodent-proofing residential properties to tackling woodworm in attic spaces.

Through photos, videos, and first-hand stories, they highlighted the diversity, challenges, and professionalism involved in modern pest management.

World Pest Day, sometimes referred to as World Pest Awareness Day, aims to raise awareness about the critical role pest management plays in protecting public health, food supplies, and property.

By giving its platform to those on the ground, BPCA brought attention to the vital work technicians do every day—often unnoticed but essential.

“We wanted to shine a spotlight on the people who make pest control work possible,” said Scott Johnstone, BPCA Marketing Manager. “By letting technicians share their stories, we not only celebrated their expertise but also educated the public on the scope and importance of pest control.

"It also provided a great opportunity to showcase the high standards upheld by BPCA members. Huge thanks to everyone who took part in the takeover."

The takeover was well-received by followers, sparking conversations and questions about pest control methods, training, and career pathways in the industry.
