DWP webinar to showcase work experience opportunities for employers

RECRUITMENT

BPCA members are invited to attend an upcoming Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) webinar on how work experience placements can support businesses while helping young people take their first steps into employment.

DWP webinar to showcase work experience opportunities for employers

The online webinar takes place on Thursday, 14 May 2026, from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm.

Pest management businesses are facing recruitment challenges, with up to 40% of technicians set to retire in the next ten years. Getting involved in work experience is a practical way to introduce young people to the sector, build future talent and show that pest control is a skilled, varied and essential career.

The session will showcase the DWP Work Experience Programme, which gives unemployed young people with little or no work history the chance to develop practical workplace skills.

For employers, work experience can be a useful way to support local communities, introduce young people to the world of work, and connect with motivated individuals who are keen to learn.

During the webinar, attendees will hear about:

  • The benefits of offering work experience placements
  • How employers and partners are already working with DWP
  • The practical steps involved in getting started
  • How work experience can make a difference to young people and employers

The webinar will also feature speakers from B&M and Channel 4, who will share insight into their own work experience programmes and the benefits these have brought to their organisations.

Whether members are already supporting young people into work or are simply interested in finding out more, the session will offer a straightforward overview of how the programme works.

Rosina Robson, BPCA Chief Executive, said:

“Work experience can be a really practical way for employers to support young people while also opening their eyes to sectors they may never have considered before.

“Pest management is full of varied, skilled and important roles, but many young people won’t know those opportunities exist unless we help show them. This webinar is a useful chance for members to explore how placements could work for their business and the communities they serve.”

Members can register their place via the DWP Eventbrite page.
