BPCA is delivering specialist pest control training via its new online classroom. 

Unlike webinars, virtual online classrooms mix a live speaker with interactions from learning on a far smaller scale. Strictly limited to 15 learners, you'll be able to ask questions, take polls and talk to other learners.

As in a classroom environment, you'll be encouraged to engage in discussions, share experiences and ask questions.

Advanced insect biology - Online classroom

Looking to deepen your understanding of invertebrate pests to advance your pest management skills?

This course is aimed at those already working in pest control who now wish to gain a more in-depth knowledge of insect biology.

The course will cover the main insect pest species that pest controllers are most likely to encounter, including bed bugs, cockroaches, beetles, moths, flies, fleas, mosquitoes and wasps.

Overview

The course will use a mix of presentation, breakout sessions and interactive discussions.

Upon completion of the course, delegates will:

• Be able to identify common public health insect pests 
• Review:
 - Body plans
 - Functionality
 - Adaptations 
• Understand the driving factors behind insect behaviour and biology in relation to pest management.

While not mandatory, we advise that to get the most out of this course, delegates attending should already be qualified to a minimum of Level Two Award in Pest Management (or equivalent) and have a working knowledge of rodent control within pest control environments.

Virtual classroom training by British Pest Control Association

This is a one-day virtual classroom course. 10am to 4.30pm.

The course will use a mix of presentations and interactive sessions.

The course will be delivered as an online classroom training course using the Zoom platform.  As in a classroom environment, candidates will be encouraged to engage in discussions, share experiences and ask questions.

There will be regular breaks throughout the day including lunch. Please take advantage of these breaks to move away from your device and move around a little as this will help you maintain focus throughout the day.

To take part in the session you will need:

• Computer, laptop or tablet
• Internet connection.

Please note: Smartphones will work, however the session is not optimised for very small screens.

Slides from the training will NOT be available so please ensure that you have pens and paper to enable you to take your own notes.

There is no assessment for this course.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Advanced Insect Biology.

If you are on BPCA Registered you will earn 6 CPD points for completing the course.

If you are on Basis Prompt, you will receive TBC CPD points for completing the course.
