Most food manufacturers, in the UK at least, contract out their pest management activities. Some maintain a certain level of pest management expertise in house, others less so.

Whatever the case, there are some pre-requisite expectations of the monitoring component of the service provided from the contractor. Central to all of the monitoring activities is that pest trending is much more than a lagging indicator, it is the driver of corrective actions leading ultimately to a pest-free manufacturing facility.
Efficient IPM depends highly on whether the data itself effectively reflects the existing pest risk status – hence the data should have been derived from a comprehensive site risk assessment leading to a sufficient number of appropriately placed pest monitoring devices.
