The course will use a mix of presentations, breakout sessions and interactive discussions.
Upon completion of the course, delegates will:
- Be able to identify common public health insect pests
- Review: body plans, functionality and adaptations
- Understand the driving factors behind insect behaviour and biology concerning pest management
- Identify both common rodent pests and commonly encountered non-targets
- Understand the role that urinary proteins play in rodent communication
- Understand the driving factors behind rodent behaviour and biology concerning pest management.
While not mandatory, we advise that to get the most out of this course, delegates attending should already be qualified to a minimum of Level Two Award in Pest Management (or equivalent) and have a working knowledge of insect and rodent control within pest control environments.
This is a one-day virtual classroom course. 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
The course will use a mix of presentations and interactive sessions.
The course will be delivered as an online classroom training course using the Zoom platform. As in a classroom environment, candidates will be encouraged to engage in discussions, share experiences and ask questions.
There will be regular breaks throughout the day, including lunch. Please take advantage of these breaks to move away from your device and move around a little, as this will help you maintain focus throughout the day.
To take part in the session, you will need:
• Computer, laptop or tablet
• Internet connection.
Please note: Smartphones will work, however the session is not optimised for very small screens.
Slides from the training will NOT be available, so please ensure that you have pens and paper to enable you to take your own notes.
There is no assessment for this course.
Upon completing this course, you will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Advanced Insect and Rodent Biology.
If you are on BPCA Registered, you will earn 6.5 CPD points for completing the course.
If you are on Basis Prompt, you will receive TBC CPD points for completing the course.
