Fundamentals of Rodent and Insect Biology

If you're new to the sector, give your insect pest knowledge a leg up ahead of taking your Level 2 Award in Pest Management.

The online course will cover the main rodent and insect pest species that pest technicians are most likely to encounter.

The course will use a mix of presentations and interactive discussions.

Overview

Upon completion of this one-day course, you will:

  • Be able to identify a range of common public health rodent and insect pests, including rats, mice, bed bugs, biting and crawling insects
  • Understand the driving factors behind rodent and insect behaviour and biology in relation to pest management.

While not mandatory, we advise that to get the most out of this course, delegates follow up by taking the Level Two Award in Pest Management (or equivalent).

Delivery

This is a one-day virtual classroom course, 9.30am to 4.30pm.

The course will use a mix of presentations and interactive sessions.

The course will be delivered as an online classroom training course using the Zoom platform.  As in a classroom environment, candidates will be encouraged to engage in discussions, share experiences and ask questions.

There will be regular breaks throughout the day. Please take advantage of these breaks to move away from your device and move around a little as this will help you maintain focus throughout the day.

To take part in the session you will need:

• Computer, laptop or tablet
• Internet connection.

Please note: Smartphones will work, however the session is not optimised for very small screens.

Slides from the training will NOT be available so please ensure that you have pens and paper to enable you to take your own notes.

Assessments

There is no assessment for this course.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Fundamentals of Rodent and Insect Biology.

If you are on BPCA Registered you will earn 6.5 CPD points for completing the course.

If you are on Basis Prompt, you will receive TBC CPD points for completing the course.
