Grey squirrel control for pest professionals

Looking to branch out into squirrel control? This course is aimed at those already working in pest control who now wish to gain a more in-depth knowledge of grey squirrels and their control. 

On this course, you will learn why the classification of grey squirrels is essential and gain knowledge of the different control measure options for grey squirrels.

You'll understand your legal responsibilities when controlling grey squirrels. We'll cover the difference between hazards and risks so you will be able to work safely and effectively.

Overview

The course will use a mix of presentation and interactive sessions and will include modules on:

  • Identification and behaviours
  • Squirrel classification in law and non-native species
  • Legislation relating to grey squirrels
  • A practical guide to control methods
  • Who can carry out the work required (licensing)
  • Considerations relating to treatments
  • Commencing a treatment
  • Safety at work, including insurance and accident reporting
  • Completing a treatment
  • Preventing a reinfestation
  • What to do if things go wrong.

Whilst not mandatory, we do advise that to get the most out of this course, delegates attending should already be qualified to a minimum of Level 2 Award in Pest Management and have a working knowledge of grey squirrels within pest control environments. 

Delivery

This is a half-day online classroom course, 9.30 am to 1 pm.

Candidates will be encouraged to engage in discussions, share experiences and ask questions.

There will be regular breaks throughout the half-day training. 

Again, slides from the training will NOT be available, so please ensure that you have pens and paper to enable you to take your own notes.

Assessments

There is no assessment for this course.

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Grey Squirrel Control.

If you are on BPCA Registered you will earn 3.5 CPD points for completing the course.

If you are on Basis Prompt, you will also receive CPD points for completing the course.
