Hands-on Pest Management: An introduction to practical pest management

Are you a new pest controller looking to supplement your theoretical knowledge with some practical skills?

This course is aimed at those with little or no experience working in pest control environments.

Take this course to gain a hands-on understanding of the pest management toolkit and the knowledge-based training you'll gain in the Level 2 Award in Pest Management qualification. 

The course can be booked as a stand-alone or an added date to the five-day Level 2 Award in Pest Management training course.

If you are booking as part of the five-day course, your accommodation will be amended accordingly.

Overview

Upon completion of the one-day course, you will have learned:

  • Practical safe use of rodenticide
  • Where to place bait boxes for effective and safe control
  • How to place rodenticide inside a bait box
  • The different types of traps available and when to use them
  • How to select equipment for use in the treatment of wasps
  • How to identify a range of common pest species
  • How to monitor insect usage
  • How to change tubes in an EFK
  • How to maintain and use a sprayer.

While not mandatory, we advise that to get the most out of this course, delegates should take this course alongside the Level Two Award in Pest Management (or equivalent).

Delivery

This is a one-day classroom course. 10.00am to 6.00pm.

As this is in a classroom environment, candidates will be encouraged to engage in discussions, share experiences and ask questions.

There will be regular breaks throughout the day, including lunch.

Slides from the training will NOT be available, so please ensure that you have pens and paper to enable you to take your own notes.

Assessments

There is no assessment for this course.

Upon completing this course, you will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Hands-on Pest Management.

If you are on BPCA Registered, you will earn 7 CPD points for completing the course.

If you are on Basis Prompt, you will receive TBC CPD points for completing the course.
