This one day classroom course will cover the below:
Species covered will include grey squirrel, feral mink, glis glis (edible dormice) and birds covered by general licenses.
You'll learn what to consider when choosing control methods, including insecticides, rodenticides, traps, shooting and snaring.
We'll go over method statements, risk assessments and good record-keeping.
Upon completion of the course, delegates will:
- Understand the complexities around non-native species and how their legal status can impact on when and how they can be controlled
- Be aware of the legal status of a range of non-native pests
- Gain a practical knowledge of the different control measure options
- Understand their legal responsibilities when controlling non-native pests
- Understand the difference between hazards and risks
- Be able to work safely and effectively.
While not mandatory, we advise that to get the most out of this course, delegates attending should already be qualified to a minimum of Level Two Award in Pest Management (or equivalent) and have a working knowledge of pest control environments.
This is a day classroom course. 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Refreshments will be provided.
There is no assessment for this course.
Upon completion of this course, you will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Non-Native Pests and their Control.
If you are on BPCA Registered you will earn 3.5 CPD points for completing the course.
If you are on Basis Prompt, you will receive TBC CPD points for completing the course.
