Small pest, big problem. Want to gain a more in-depth and expert understanding of how to control ants? 

Ants are an often overlooked group of pests.

But with the number of problematic species increasing and regular changes in the safe use of pesticides, it's an excellent time to increase your knowledge of ants and their control. 

This course offers a deeper dive into the world of ants, with a strong focus on the safe and effective use of pesticides.

Overview

The course is practical, interactive and will help learners:

  • Get familiar with ant morphology and identification, using microscopes and keys to identify both native and tropical ant species
  • Gain deeper knowledge of ant biology and behaviours
  • Prepare ant specimens for identification
  • Take a deeper dive into insecticide formulation, mode of action and treatment strategies
  • Refine skills in the safe and effective chemical treatment of ants, with practical application of insecticides via baiting and spraying
  • Consider integrated pest management strategies for ant control.

This course will cater for all abilities but will be of value to those who hold the RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management qualification.

Delivery

This is a one-day classroom course. 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

As this is in a classroom environment, candidates will be encouraged to engage in discussions, share experiences and ask questions.

There will be regular breaks throughout the day, including lunch.

Slides from the training will NOT be available, so please ensure that you have pens and paper to enable you to take your own notes.

Assessments

There is no assessment for this course.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Practical Ant Control in Pest Management.

If you are on BPCA Registered you will earn 9 CPD points for completing the course.

If you are on Basis Prompt, you will receive TBC CPD points for completing the course.
