Overview

This programme is based on the role profile for a First Line Manager in the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership.

Upon completion of the two-day course, you will learn:

Day One

Personal effectiveness - time is precious; use it wisely

How to effectively and efficiently manage time, priorities, tasks, teams and individuals based on business focus and needs.

Communication – verbal and non-verbal

  • Speaking with purpose
  • Inspiring others by listening with intent
  • Hearing potential in others
  • Translating this into action within the team. 

Day Two

Self and relationship management

Assess your leadership style and understand the value of adapting your style to motivate and inspire the team, creating a shared vision, purpose and direction.

Tapping into potential – creating new thinking and direction

Understanding how to assess and manage your team members’ current competencies, ensuring you are providing stretching development opportunities. This includes one-to-ones, feedback conversations, performance coaching and mentoring over and underperformance.

Participants will be encouraged to use real working examples, giving them a plan and structure to return to the workplace. They will be able to integrate the learning into their new role, adding value to the team and creating a high-performance team focused on achieving the company's vision and goals.

The workshops are designed to stimulate ideas and provide practical skills development to integrate into working practices, inspiring new managers to encourage their teams and individuals to achieve their full potential.

Delivery

This is a two-day virtual classroom course. 9.30 am to 4.00 pm.

The course will use a mix of presentations and interactive sessions.

The workshops are interactive based on tutor-led best practice input, discussion, and group activities, offering a unique opportunity to share experiences and personal case studies in a safe environment.  We incorporate various learning methods, which include diagnostics, videos, interactive exercises, reflection time and post-course reflection and activities to keep the learning alive; each module will build on the previous.

There will be regular breaks throughout the day, including lunch. Please take advantage of these breaks to move away from your device and move around a little as this will help you maintain focus throughout the day.

To take part in the session, you will need:

• Computer, laptop or tablet
• Internet connection.

Please note: Smartphones will work, however the session is not optimised for very small screens.

Slides from the training will NOT be available, so please ensure that you have pens and paper to enable you to take your own notes.

Assessments

There is no assessment for this course.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive a BPCA Certificate of Completion in Pest Management Leadership.

If you are on BPCA Registered, you will earn 11 CPD points for completing the course.

If you are on Basis Prompt, you will receive TBC CPD points for completing the course.
