John O’Conner Pest Control are looking for a qualified pest control technician that has a great work ethic and wants to join a very friendly and successful team.

Basic 40 hours per week Monday to Friday plus overtime - flexibility is required.

Based at North Herts Depot, Hitchin.

We will provide you with work phone, uniform, work vehicle plus all the equipment needed to do an excellent job.

The ideal candidate: 

  • RSPH Level 2 Certificate – Essential
  • Previous Pest Control Experience – Essential
  • Previous experience in Bird Proofing – Preferred
  • Hold a full UK driving licence – Essential
  • PA1 & PA6 Spray Certificate
  • Excellent communication skills – dealing with clients and customers
  • An analytical outlook with problem solving abilities.
  • A meticulous eye for detail with a pride taken in works completed.
  • The ability to work to set procedures and follow instructions.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, personable with a desire for continued self-development.
  • Must be confident working at height and in confined spaces.
  • Be able to spot new selling opportunities.
  • Food Hygiene certificate would be an advantage but training can be given.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Pest Control Technician:

  • Complete routine inspections at contract sites, including pubs, restaurants, hotels, office blocks, industrial units etc
  • Provide treatment reports, advising work carried out and recommendations
  • Attend emergency call outs for pest infestations
  • Carry out follow-up visits at sites with on-going pest problems
  • Maintain diary ensuring all scheduled visits and appointments are completed
  • Assist with service work in other areas when necessary
  • Complete pest control inspections at residential and commercial properties
  • Identify new business opportunities and pass on to sales team
  • Service Electronic Fly Killers
  • Undertake proofing work for birds as well as to restrict pest access
  • Complete site specific risk assessments
  • Maintain and record stock levels
  • Undertake pigeon control 
  • Complete occasional house clearance jobs
