We are currently looking for a Pest & Dog Control Enforcement Officer to join our team.

Description

Pest Control & Dog Enforcement Officer

The successful candidate will be responsible for the combined duties of a Local Authority Pest Control Officer, Dog Warden and Enforcement Officer, including the treatment of Public Health pests, collection/seizure of stray dogs and taking enforcement action where necessary.

The main duties of the post:

  • To carry out investigations, surveys, tests and/or treatments of premises and/or land both within the County Borough area as required for the control of pests that are harmful to public health and wellbeing (e.g. rats, mice, bedbugs, cockroaches, fleas and wasps).
  • To carry out a wide range of duties associated with the control of Stray Dogs in the County Borough to include (where necessary) enforcement action for offences contrary to the Environmental Protection Act 1990 sections 149 to 151.
  • When appropriate, to take enforcement action to ensure landowners comply with their duties under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949.

Requirements:

  • You will have experience of pest control treatment work as a Pest Control Technician, and be confident handling dogs including large breeds and aggressive/dangerous dogs.
  • You will have a minimum of 4 GCSE passes or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • Hold a level 2 Pest Control qualification accredited by the British Pest Control Association or Royal Society of Health.

While experience of dealing with dogs and a qualification as a Dog Warden is desirable, this shouldn’t put you off applying! On the job instruction and training will be provided for the Dog Warden duties, along with relevant enforcement training.
