Cheshire West and Chester Regulatory Services are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual with proven ability and relevant qualifications in Pest Management to join our current team of Pest Control Technicians, to carry out both domestic and commercial pest work.  Covering both Public Health and Nuisance Pests, the individual will be responsible for their own case load of day to day appointments and diary management, investigating possible causes of infestation within the wider working remit of the Borough, working with partner organisations and offering Pest Control advice to other teams as required. 

You will be a natural problem solver, have good attention to detail and a passion for providing excellent customer service. This is a rewarding role with a real opportunity to make a difference and promote the work of the Pest Control Team both within the Council and through wider partnership working. 

A relevant professional qualification is essential,  BPCA Level 1 or 2 or equivalent.

The contractual work location for this role is listed above however, this job role is a hybrid flexible worker/mobile worker and this means that the successful candidate will be required to work from a range of work locations within the Borough including home.

RESPONSIBLE TO:

Regulatory Services Officer

JOB PURPOSE:        To undertake all operational duties of the pest control service. To assist the Pest Control Officers and Animal Health and Welfare Team Leader to deliver and promote excellent services to the businesses and people of Cheshire West and Chester and beyond as required. To work effectively with other members of staff across the organisation to embrace and successfully deliver a flexible, joined-up approach to service delivery.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1

Carry out pest control treatments and inspection duties and advise and guide officers and members of the public on pest control matters within the designated area.

Advise the Pest Control Officer on activities within the designated area of work.

Liaise with officers of Cheshire West and Chester and outside agencies to resolve pest control problems involving waste accumulations, untidy land and drainage situations.

Undertake inspections, investigations and treatments regarding pest control as allocated.

Undertake treatments in accordance with legal and Authority requirements, in particular, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act, Control of Pesticides and COSHH assessments

Undertake treatments and inspections in accordance with a planned programme or as a result of complaints or requests received.  Advise and instruct on ways of rectifying conditions which have led to infestation.

Keep and maintain accurate records of matters associated with duties and responsibilities either in manual or computerised form.

Undertake sewer baiting on a programmed or ad-hoc basis as directed by the Pest Control Officer.

Undertake customer care focused surveys and activities relating to the pest control section’s performance and role.

Receive fees levied by the Service in accordance with specified procedures and accounting functions, as defined by the Council’s Financial Regulations.

NOTE

Notwithstanding the detail in this job description, the job holder will undertake such work as may be determined by the Manager from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the Principal Responsibilities of the job.  

This role is a Hybrid Flexible Worker / Mobile Worker and this means that the role will be will be required to work from a range of work locations within the Borough including home. Many services and customers span across the Borough and therefore you may be required to work at any location in Cheshire West and Chester.

Good verbal and written communication skills

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
