Job information – Durham County Council is looking to recruit a new Pest Treatment & Investigation Office.  The role covers both the prevention and treatment of pest infestations at domestic and commercial premises as well as investigating reports of infestations and using engagement and enforcement to ensure the relevant land owners takes action to deal with them.

To succeed in the role, candidates will need a good level of knowledge of common UK pest species including the signs that indicate they are present, their behaviour, and appropriate treatment methods. In addition, candidates should have good verbal and written communication skills, be comfortable using common IT software packages, and have both an enquiring mind and an ability to solve problems. Whilst knowledge of common legislation related to pest issues would be beneficial, it is not essential and full training and support will be provided on the enforcement element of the role.

Required qualifications - 5 GCSEs including English or a relevant equivalent qualification (e.g. RSPH level 2 in pest control).
