Description

The Surveyor in Pest Control is responsible for conducting detailed site inspections, identifying pest-related issues, and providing recommendations for pest control solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of pest behaviours, pest control methods, and the ability to create and implement pest management strategies. The Surveyor will collaborate closely with customers to assess their needs and provide expert guidance on preventing and managing infestations.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Surveys & Inspections:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties to identify signs of pest infestations, structural issues, and areas of vulnerability
  • Use specialized equipment to detect and monitor pest activity
  • Assess risk factors contributing to pest issues, such as hygiene, environmental conditions, and structural integrity
  • Be able to create own lead generation to organically grow the business with new clients in new and existing service offerings.

Pest Identification:

  • Accurately identify pests and understand their biology, behaviour, and habitat
  • Classify pests and provide proper recommendations for treatment and prevention.

Recommendations & Solutions:

  • Provide customers with detailed, tailored pest control solutions based on survey results
  • Recommend non-chemical and chemical treatments as appropriate
  • Advise on preventative measures to reduce the risk of future infestations (e.g., structural changes, hygiene practices, waste management).

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Prepare comprehensive survey reports outlining findings, recommendations, and proposed treatments
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, treatment plans, and follow-up activities.

Customer Interaction:

  • Explain pest control procedures and treatment plans to customers in clear, understandable terms
  • Answer customer inquiries and concerns regarding pest management strategies
  • Provide aftercare advice, including monitoring plans and pest prevention education.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure that all pest control procedures comply with local regulations and industry standards
  • Follow safety protocols for pest control treatments, especially when handling hazardous chemicals.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with pest control technicians to ensure proper execution of pest management plans
  • Provide support and guidance for follow-up inspections to monitor the effectiveness of treatments.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a surveyor, pest control specialist, or in a similar role (preferred)
  • Knowledge of pest control products, methods, and tools
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to pest control
  • Pest control qualification RSPH Level 2 certified
  • Excellent knowledge of pest species, their behaviour, and habitat
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess pest issues and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for preparing reports and interacting with customers
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspections effectively
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require working in various weather conditions and sometimes in confined or high-risk environments
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be necessary depending on the tasks.
