Field Biologist
Veritas Pest Consultancy | South East UK
Veritas Pest Consultancy is looking for a motivated Field Biologist to join our growing consultancy team, supporting clients across the food production, manufacturing, warehousing and allied industries throughout the South East of the UK.
This is a varied, field-based role for someone who has a genuine interest in pest biology, food safety, pest management and auditing, and who enjoys using their technical knowledge to identify risks and provide practical solutions.
As part of Veritas Pest Consultancy, you will work independently with a wide range of clients, providing professional and impartial advice to help businesses improve their pest management programmes and maintain compliance with customer and industry standards.
The Role
The role will involve visiting customer sites to undertake pest management inspections, audits and consultancy assessments.
You will assess the effectiveness of existing pest management programmes, identify potential risks and vulnerabilities, review documentation and records, and provide clear recommendations for improvement.
You will be working closely with food manufacturers, processors, warehouses, growers, packaging, neutraceuticas and other businesses where effective pest prevention and control is an essential part of food safety and quality management.
The role will involve travelling thorough the South East of the UK and whilst initially we are looking for a Field Biologist, as a Company we are very much in support of our employees passions and developing their role that suits them whilst aligning with the business ethos.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out detailed pest management audits and inspections at client sites
- Assess pest risks associated with buildings, processes, hygiene, storage and the wider site environment
- Review pest control documentation, service reports, trend data and corrective actions
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing pest management programmes
- Identify pest activity, harbourage opportunities, proofing deficiencies and other areas of risk
- Produce detailed, professional and technically accurate reports including trend analysis
- Provide practical, proportionate recommendations to clients
- Assist clients in preparing for third-party and retailer audits
- Support the development and improvement of Integrated Pest Management programmes
- Liaise confidently with site management, technical teams, food safety personnel and pest management providers
- Keep up to date with changes to relevant legislation, standards and industry best practice
- Uphold the Veritas Pest Consultancy professional independant standards at all times.
About You
Ideally, you will have a background in field biology, pest management, food safety, environmental health or a related discipline, together with practical experience of commercial pest management and/or food industry environments.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
- A strong understanding of pest biology and behaviour
- Experience of working within the commercial pest management industry
- An understanding of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles
- Experience working within food manufacturing, food production, warehousing or associated industries
- Knowledge of standards such as BRCGS, SALSA, Soil Association Organic and major retailer requirements
- Excellent observation and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to produce clear, concise and professional technical reports
- Confidence when dealing directly with customers and senior site personnel
- A professional, independent and solutions-focused approach
- The ability to manage your own diary, workload and travel requirements
- A full UK driving licence.
Relevant qualifications and professional memberships would be advantageous, although practical experience, technical knowledge and the right attitude are equally important.

The Opportunity
Location: South East England
Position: Field Biologist
Employment: [Permanent]
Salary: 39,000+ Relative to experience
Travel: Regular travel throughout the South East, with occasional wider UK travel as required. Depending in the candidates location, overnight stays will be expected for sites that require multiple days to inspect.
