The Peterborough Small Business Awards were held on Saturday 7 October, in Thorpe Wood, Peterborough. With over 360 attendees, the awards aim to reward, acknowledge, and inspire small and micro businesses across the UK.

Robert Polson Snr, founder of Anglian Pest Control, commented:

"It was great for the pest control industry to be recognised in regional awards. We were shortlisted from hundreds of applications and up against 10 other trade companies in our category which included electrical companies, home improvements, security, and builders.

"It was an amazing achievement for us, and the first ever pest control company to win a category at the awards."

He continued, "We believe in giving back to the local community and have organised various donations from sponsoring local football teams, donating books to local nurseries, donating care packages to the local hospital during the pandemic.

"Amanda also ran a series of charity events to raise money for our local Cancer Wellbeing Service, raising just over 6k for the centre."

Robert founded the business in March 2008, following a successful career working for a national pest control company and the pest control department at Peterborough City Council.

Driven by an immense passion to set up his own pest control business, and armed with 30+ years’ experience, Robert decided to pursue his dream and Anglian Pest Control was born!

Whilst he was getting the business up and running, he worked early morning shifts as a cleaning supervisor so he could spend the rest of the day focusing on setting up his business in the background.

Robert worked as a one-man band for 12 years before deciding to bring his son and daughter onboard as partners in 2020.

Amanda Hunnybun oversees the administration side of the business; Robert Polson Jnr gained his qualifications and is now a fully qualified pest controller, currently working on a part-time basis for the company.

They recently had a new addition to the team and welcome Benjamin Back as a Trainee Pest Control Technician.

The business continues to go from strength-to-strength under the new structure and Anglian are excited for the future.
