PPC Live: Meet the speaker - Dave Archer

Dave Archer will be leading a seminar at PPC Live called Much ado about moleing. We catch up with him to see what we should expect.

David Archer

Dave's experience

I have been involved in professional pest control for 40 years. I have a preference for for rural pest control, particularly mole, fox and deer control.

In the 1980s I was a specialist pest control trainer for The Agricultural Training Board (later Land Base). I instructed farmers and landowners, primarily in the Home Counties, on the legal methods for controlling pests on their land.

For the past twelve years, I have run my own company, DKA Pest Control, now based in Mid Devon. A large part of my pest control services includes the provision of mole control services to farmers, householders, Parish Councils and Local Authorities, to name but a few.

In addition to providing practical pest control solutions, I am a freelance examiner in pest control with the Royal Society of Public Health. I also sit on the advisory panel for Pest Magazine.

Much ado about moleing

What to expect from Dave's demonstration

The demonstration will show how mole trappers can lay traps more effectively.

I will be displaying and setting a wide variety of mole traps, and perhaps there will be traps that you may not have seen before. Not only will you be able to view these traps, but I will be on hand to help you set them should you wish to try.

Incidentally, I do not, nor have I ever have gassed moles. It is not a treatment that is covered by this talk.

If this demonstration can make you begin to think laterally, not only about controlling moles and their welfare but also the methods and traps you use to provide this service, it will have achieved its objectives.

Professional pest control together. PPC Live is the sister show to PestEx, and is BPCA's exhibition and conference designed for UK pest control technicians, managers and company owners. This event will be held on Wednesday 14 March 2018 at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, Worcestershire.
