LNPS wins national award for excellence

PRESS RELEASE

A recently established London pest control company is celebrating after winning its first-ever national award.

lnps award 2

BPCA member London Network for Pest Solutions (LNPS) was thrilled to win the award for Best Efficiency and Transformation Initiative, beating other local authorities and companies across the UK in the prestigious Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Awards.

The company was also a finalist in the Best Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship Initiative.

The APSE awards recognise the very best in local government frontline services across the UK, with the winners being selected after a rigorous round of judging.

LNPS is a limited company wholly owned by the London Borough of Newham. It employs 15 staff and has a turnover of £1.3 million with a mixture of local authority and private clients. The company was launched in February 2017.

Faced with the requirement to make savings by ‘externalising’ certain services, Newham set about finding various ways to retain and improve vital services such as pest control.

LNPS’s launch changed the way council pest control services had been delivered for the past 40 years and allowing the ‘the council’ to compete with the private sector for work.

Customers now include: residential properties; businesses; schools; charitable organisations, landlords in Newham and the surrounding areas and the London Borough of Havering.

With a vision to deliver high-quality, fast, efficient, effective and affordable pest control services, LNPS has developed a unique business model in the pest control sector with unlimited visits to residential properties for a flat fee.

Customer service and quality of service come before profits and LNPS has quickly built a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Being as ‘green’ as possible both administratively and operationally is a priority, underpinned by the company’s ISO 14001 accreditation.

This award is a credit to the whole team and we are all absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition.

Paul Cooper, Managing Director LNPS

Paul Cooper, Managing Director, said: “This award is a credit to the whole team and we are all absolutely thrilled to receive this recognition. Along with the award and excellent feedback from customers, profits have increased when competitors thought the opposite would happen.

"This success has allowed us to invest in more training, accreditations, new vehicles and better equipment.”

Announcing the winners APSE Chief Executive Paul O’Brien said: “After a year of such turmoil for our communities every finalist and every winner thoroughly deserves to be recognised for the fantastic work they do at the frontline of local public services. I commend you all.”

The winners were announced at a special virtual ceremony on 16 December 2020 and the trophy was received by the LNPS this month.

LNPS offers services to residential and commercial customers across London. The company is an active member of the British Pest Control Association and Managing Director Paul Cooper now sits on the British Pest Control Association’s Servicing Committee. He is also a member of and advisor to NPAP - the CIEH National Pest Advisory Panel.

LNPS hold a wide range of accreditations including: CEPA; CHAS; SafeContractor; FORS; Living Wage Foundation and ISO 14000. LNPS supports the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use and is a registered waste carrier.
