Brian O'Donnell of Graham Pest Control has been appointed Chair of BPCA’s Professional Standards Committee and has taken up a seat on the BPCA Executive Board.

Brian takes over from Martin Rose-King, who previously chaired the committee. Martin will continue on the BPCA Executive Board as one of the Association’s two Vice-presidents.

Brian brings more than two decades of pest management experience to the role. After leaving the Armed Forces in 2003, he joined the sector in 2004 as a technician and has since worked across a wide range of operational and technical roles.

Over the years, Brian has served as a supervisor, area manager, field biologist and technical inspector, and service manager. He is now Operations Manager at Graham Pest Control. That experience has given him a strong understanding of the profession at every level, from front-line service delivery to strategic decision-making.

Brian has also served on BPCA’s Professional Standards Committee for more than five years. During that time, he has supported work to raise standards and promote best practice across the sector, including projects linked to continuing professional development, membership criteria, consultant regulation and qualification frameworks.

"It’s a real privilege to take on the role of Chair of the Professional Standards Committee. To represent the wider industry and to work alongside like-minded volunteers is something I’m proud to be part of.

"I’d also like to say a big thank you to Martin, and I know I speak for the whole of the Professional Standards Committee, for his support, dedication, passion, and the energy he’s brought to the committee, helping shape it into what it is today.

"I’m excited about taking the committee forward, continuing to raise standards and making a positive difference". 

The BPCA Professional Standards (PS) Committee supports the Executive Board by reviewing and shaping strategy around professionalism across BPCA membership. The committee also manages the review and implementation of amendments to professional requirements, helps uphold BPCA’s Code of Conduct and oversees complaints.

Brian said he is committed to professionalism, inclusivity and continuous improvement, and wants to help shape a progressive future for the industry where members of all sizes feel represented, supported and heard.

Brian and the Committee thanked Martin Rose-King for his work as Chair of the Professional Standards Committee and for his contribution to the Association’s professional standards agenda.

"I couldn’t be prouder of my previous role as Chair and having the opportunity to work with other like-minded BPCA members.

"Having worked alongside Brian for many years and witnessed his passion for professionalism, the time was right to step aside for a new generation of members continuing the excellent work done by the Committee while bringing fresh ideas to the discussion. Exciting times ahead!"

With Brian now stepping into the role, the committee will continue its work to support high standards across membership and help ensure professionalism remains at the heart of the Association.
