With over 18 years of experience in the sector, Alex will replace longstanding employee and fellow rodent control specialist, Sharon Hughes, when she retires from the company this summer.

Having grown up and worked in the pest control world for many years, Alex brings a wealth of passion, technical knowledge and practical expertise to the role.

Alex, who was born in Dubai, gained his first industry experience aged 15 with his father, who was a leading pest controller in Dubai and went on to found pest control solutions manufacturer PelGar International in 1995.

In 2006, Alex joined the family business as Laboratory Manager at PelGar International, before quickly climbing the ranks to become Technical Manager. In this role, he was responsible for several significant advancements in the company, including merging with Church Farm to provide a cutting-edge pest management training and product testing facility.

In 2020, Alex founded Wade Environmental, a consultancy firm dedicated to providing impartial technical advice to the industry, before later joining forces with Oliver Madge and Lulu Gunter to create IPMCentral, a CIC legacy programme for the next generation of pest controllers.

Most recently, Alex has been elected as chairperson of the British Pest Control Association’s Outreach and Communications Committee.

As BASF’s new Global Technical Marketing Manager for Rodenticides, Alex is the linking pin between R&D and sales, driving customer acceptance around the world, and his role will encompass a broad range of strategic and technical responsibilities.

Commenting on his new position, Alex said: “Joining BASF is a really exciting move for me! The company is at the forefront of innovation in the pest control industry, and its commitment to sustainability and stewardship aligns perfectly with my own values and goals, and reflects more of what is needed in the industry.

“There is no doubt that Sharon has left an impressive legacy behind as BASF’s Global Technical Marketing Manager, and I certainly have some big shoes to step into, but I cant wait to get stuck into the role in June.”
