Google Local Service Ads consolidates its ad badges into one ‘verified’ check

BUSINESS FEATURE

From 20 October 2025, Google will be introducing a single Google Verified badge across all Local Services Ads, replacing the current range of labels like Google Guaranteed, Google Screened and Licence Verified by Google.

For pest controllers using Local Services Ads, there are a few key points to note.

What’s changing?

  • All existing badges will disappear and be replaced by the new Google Verified badge
  • The money-back guarantee previously tied to Google Guaranteed ads will be discontinued
  • The new badge will show that you’ve passed Google’s verification checks, but customers won’t see different categories of verification anymore – it’s all rolled into one.

If you’ve already completed verification for your business, there’s nothing you need to do. Google will automatically update your profile.

Scott Johnstone, BPCA’s Marketing and Communications Manager, said:

“BPCA members can still use their membership to help verify with Google, as before. What’s new is how your customers will see your ads. Instead of different badges for different checks, everyone will now see one Google Verified mark.”

For more details, Google has published a support page on the new badge system. support.google.com/localservices/answer/16498018
