Inside PelGar’s Telford Laboratory

PRESS RELEASE

In the ever-evolving world of pest control, where regulations shift and pest resistance grows, innovation is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. At the heart of BPCA member company, PelGar International’s technical operations lies the Telford Laboratory, a hub of scientific excellence where chemistry meets biology to deliver safe, effective, and compliant insecticide formulations.

Split between two sites, Alton and Telford, PelGar’s laboratories are staffed by a diverse and highly skilled team of chemists, biologists, and analysts. This feature turns the spotlight on the Telford team, whose work underpins the company’s reputation for technical rigour and product reliability.

Leading the Charge: Kevin Jones

Joining PelGar six months ago, Kevin Jones serves as Group Technical Manager, bringing a broad technical background and a fresh perspective. Kevin oversees both sites, ensuring that the team, equipment, and facilities operate at peak performance. He also acts as the external face of the technical team, liaising with customers, regulators, and internal stakeholders. Outside the lab, Kevin is a keen natural historian and tech enthusiast, often found building PCs or modifying high-end audio equipment when not exploring the wilderness with his wife.

Formulation and scale-up: Alexander Lee

With seven years at PelGar, Alexander Lee has grown from a Formulation Chemist to Laboratory Manager at the Telford site. His role spans formulation development, routine analytical testing, and supporting the scale-up of manufacturing processes. Alex’s deep understanding of chemistry and production ensures that lab innovations translate smoothly into commercial reality. In his spare time, he’s a rock climber and is currently learning to paraglide—bringing the same adventurous spirit to his work.

Innovation in formulation: Yogesh Rawat

Yogesh Rawat, a Junior Formulation Chemist, joined the team five months ago and is already making an impact. His work involves developing pesticide formulations, conducting stability testing, and supporting manufacturing trials. Yogesh brings a methodical and curious mindset to the lab, and outside work, he’s a passionate cricket fan, home cook, and explorer of the UK’s scenic landscapes.

Quality at the core: Katarzyna Makarucha

With over six years at PelGar, Katarzyna (Kate) Makarucha is the Quality Control Analyst, ensuring that every product leaving the Telford lab meets stringent quality standards. Her precision and attention to detail are vital to maintaining PelGar’s reputation for reliability. Kate is also a creative force outside the lab, developing her own healthy cake recipes using vegetable-based ingredients, and travelling with her family to discover new cultures and cuisines.

A culture of collaboration and curiosity

What sets PelGar’s technical team apart is not just their scientific expertise but also their collaborative spirit and personal passions. Whether it’s scaling cliffs, gaming, photography, or culinary creativity, each team member brings a unique perspective that enriches the lab environment.

As pest control challenges grow more complex, PelGar’s Telford lab remains a cornerstone of innovation—delivering the data, formulations, and quality assurance needed to keep products effective and compliant in a fast-moving market.
