Pest control frequency calculator released exclusively for BPCA members

BPCA has created a downloadable frequency calculator to help pest management professionals select the appropriate amount of site visits per-year based on the probability and the severity of pest infestations on any given site.

The member-only document allows you to fill in the probability and severity of an infestation based on clear criteria. The spreadsheet will automatically populate with a risk assessment score.

The risk assessment score is a good indicator as to the minimum service frequency on site.

Dee Ward-Thompson, BPCA Technical Manager, said:

“While this is a valuable tool for many of our members, risk can change quickly and should be considered on an on-going basis. We wanted to make the tool as easy as possible to use and have therefore developed an accompanying guidance document too”.

When assessing a site for a pest control programme we do this on a risk-based strategy in order to address the issues raised by the:

  • Risk to public health due to activities of pests
  • Risk to food safety
  • Risk to public safety and the environment.

The calculator prompts you to take these factors into consideration and give you a realistic minimum number of site visits.

Please note this is a guide only.

The guidance document and the calculator itself are available in the BPCA member area.
