PestWest® flies high with another award-winning night for flyDetect®

PRESS RELEASE

PestWest was announced the winner of the Digital Engineering/Technology Award for flyDetect® at the Made in Yorkshire Awards ceremony on 29 July.

The prestigious manufacturing dinner was held at the Hilton Hotel in Leeds, and celebrated world-class companies based in Yorkshire and the Humber and the products they are making in this region and selling across the world.

Companies were recognised for their remarkable transitions to new products which have met the national needs or even continued their brilliant innovation and ongoing success through what has been a tough couple of years since the outbreak of Covid-19.

PestWest has achieved just that and Fred Hurstel, PestWest Business Director, commented “We are so pleased that PestWest has been recognised for the technology we have used to create flyDetect®.

"It has been years in the making and is the first of its kind in the pest control industry. Flying insects contaminating products remains a significant issue for many industries, and early identification of potential flying insect problems is a huge benefit, where zero tolerance of insects is required.”

He continued, "During the current pandemic and ongoing, it is especially important that hospitals, manufacturers, and pharmaceutical industries have the peace of mind that insect detection is being taken care of whilst keeping their staff safe, and flyDetect® allows them to do this via remote monitoring.”

flyDetect® is designed to send immediate notifications of emerging infestations. The capture thresholds can be tailored to the sensitivity of the situation in which flyDetect® is being used, making it ideal for industries such as food manufacturers and pharmaceuticals.

flyDetect® was also the joint winner of the Best New Product Award at The Society of Food Hygiene and Technology Virtual Awards Ceremony last year.
