Health and Safety Refresher for Technicians

Annual health and safety refresher training is vital to ensure that staff can continue to work safely when carrying out pest management activities.

BPCA has put together a package of health and safety refresher training that those working in pest management will benefit from.

This package consists of five modules:

Asbestos Awareness

Understanding asbestos, its locations, and the risks of exposure is crucial for pest control professionals. This online course offers an introductory awareness level on the dangers of working with asbestos and assists employers in complying with legal requirements by ensuring their employees receive proper training for safe work practices.

Manual Handling

Our Manual Handling online course enables pest control employers and their employees to gain essential training in safe manual handling principles and practices. This course provides comprehensive information and training to help organisations recognise the risks associated with manual handling, conduct effective risk assessments, and implement suitable control measures during pest management tasks.

Confined Spaces

This Confined Spaces training is perfect for individuals whose work involves operating in poorly ventilated, confined areas. Whether your work in such spaces is frequent or occasional, this training will equip you with the necessary knowledge to identify hazards, follow safety protocols, and ensure the safety of yourself and others. The course is IOSH-approved and CPD-accredited.

Work at Height

If your pest control duties involve working at height or supervising those who do, our Work at Height online training is essential. This course covers fundamental health and safety principles and the legal responsibilities of both employers and employees and offers best-practice guidance to ensure everyone's safety.

Ladder Safety

In the UK, ladder-related accidents account for one in three reported incidents, resulting in around 10 fatalities and 1,200 serious injuries annually due to improper use. Minimising the risks associated with ladder use is vital for the safety of all pest control technicians.

This ladder safety online training course highlights the dangers linked to ladder use and provides practical steps to reduce and manage these risks effectively.
