Pest Force Reading is a successful, pest control business that continues to grow across Reading and the surrounding areas. Due to our increasing workload and rapid growth of our business and customer base, we're looking for an experienced and fully trained Pest Control Technician to join our team.

This is not a trainee position. We're looking for someone who already knows the job and, following an initial couple of weeks working alongside our team to understand how we operate, our systems and our standards, will be confident to “hit the ground running” and manage their own workload.

We’re not a big corporate office with layers of management - we’re a small team building something good and we need someone we can rely on to get on with the job, use their own initiative and provide customers with the highest standard of service we expect.

What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same. You'll be trusted to manage your own jobs, use your experience and initiative, and provide the highest standard of service to our customers. Your day-to-day work will include:

• Carrying out professional pest control inspections, treatments and follow-up visits
• Treating a wide range of pests, including rodents, insects and other common pest species
• Identifying pest activity, potential entry points and the underlying causes of infestations
• Investigating more complex pest problems and recommending practical, long-term solutions
• Completing pest-proofing and minor remedial works
• Carrying out bird-proofing installations where required
• Working in a variety of environments, including domestic and commercial properties, lofts, crawl spaces, gardens and external areas
• Working safely from ladders and at height when required
• Completing clear, accurate and professional treatment reports and digital paperwork
• Providing customers with practical advice and recommendations to help prevent future pest problems
• Delivering excellent customer service and representing Pest Force Reading professionally at all times.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Previous professional pest control experience (1 year required)
• BPCA/RSPH at least Level 1 or equivalent recognised pest control qualification
• Good working knowledge of common UK pests and appropriate treatment methods
• Ability to carry out pest inspections and treatments independently
• Good understanding of pest proofing and identifying potential ingress points
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Comfortable working at height
• Comfortable working in lofts, confined spaces and dirty environments
• Good practical and problem-solving skills
• Confident using hand and power tools
• IT literate and able to complete reports using a mobile device or tablet
• Good written and verbal communication
• Excellent customer service skills
• Reliable, punctual and professional
• Able to work independently without constant supervision
• Good attention to detail and pride in your work.

Additional experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage

• CCTV drain inspections
• Drainage and identifying rodent ingress through drainage systems
• Bird proofing
• IPATH licence
• Roofing or property maintenance
• Rodent proofing and remedial works
• Commercial pest control
• Carry out minor building repairs.

These additional skills aren't essential, but we're particularly interested in technicians who enjoy investigating problems rather than simply treating the obvious symptoms.

Getting Started

You'll spend approximately the first couple of weeks working alongside us. This isn't because we need to teach you how to be a pest controller. It's an opportunity for you to learn how Pest Force Reading operates, meet the team, understand our customers, become familiar with our reporting systems and see the standards we expect.

After that, we're looking for someone who is confident enough to “hit the ground running”, manage their own jobs and crack on with the work. You'll always have the support of the rest of the team whenever needed, but you should be comfortable making decisions and working independently.

Working Hours

Typical working hours are:

Monday-Friday
8:00am-4:00pm

Flexibility is important. Some larger or more involved jobs may occasionally require longer days, and overtime opportunities may be available.

Work Location: On the road

We're not looking for someone who needs to be shown how to carry out basic pest control. We're looking for an experienced technician who wants to join a growing company, learn how we do things and then get out there and get on with the job.
