VIDEO: Choosing a professional pest controller

Pest management is more than just picking a pesticide. Too often we see botched amateur pest control that's left someone with a worse infestation than when they started.

Watch our video all about why you should be professionally protected, rather than treat a pest infestation yourself.

DIY pest control

Many believe handling a pest problem is as easy as picking up a box of poison. All you need is a can of bug spray, pellets, and a few traps, right?

Wrong.

Combine biological cultural physical and chemical tools to deal with pest infestations

Pest management is more than pesticides. You need to combine biological, cultural, physical and chemical tools to deal with an infestation for good.

Too often, we see botched DIY pest control attempts that result in even larger infestations.

We’ve seen amateurs cause serious harm through the incorrect use of chemicals - not only to British wildlife and domestic pets but to themselves and their families.

Pests must be dealt with by people with skills to get the job done quickly humanely safely

Whether it’s rats, mice, bed bugs, wasps, cockroaches or even birds - pests must be dealt with by people with the appropriate skills to get the job done quickly, humanely and safely.

How should you choose a pest controller?

Not all pest control companies are the same.

The British Pest Control Association is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping people choose an appropriate pest management company.

Audited to the British Standard for Pest Management and have fully qualified technicians

To be a part of BPCA, a company needs to be regularly audited to the British Standard for Pest Management and have fully qualified technicians.

When you use a BPCA member you’ll get detailed pest prevention advice, and a proper survey before reaching a final quote.

Our members don’t run around with bug nets. We don’t spray your furniture or equipment aimlessly. We have access to products and expertise you won’t find at your local supermarket.

To find a local pest controller, visit bpca.org.uk/find and make sure you’re protected. Professionally.
