Fire at PelGar hits the news

As reported by both the BBC and ITV local news Hampshire Fire & Rescue were called out to attend a fire at PelGar International Ltd. head office at 4.55am on the 5 August. The fire was quickly put out and the premises cordoned off for investigation.

Initial reports suggest that an electrical fault caused the fire and while there was a lot of smoke created the damage to both the fabric of the building and manufacturing equipment is minimal. As such there will only be minor disruption to PelGar's production.

"This is an unfortunate situation but we are very grateful to the emergency services for their prompt action which ensured that the fire was contained to a small area and quickly controlled," commented PelGar's managing director Dr Gareth Capel-Williams. "Our experienced team will make sure that disruption to production and supplies will be minimal and from our customers' perspective, it will be business as usual within a short period. Any production shortfalls that might occur will be picked up by our second manufacturing site, which we have available following the recent acquisition of Agropharm Ltd."
