Contego supports save the bees initiative

PRESS RELEASE

As part of their wide-ranging pledge to give back to the local community, BPCA member Contego Response is running a 'Save the Bees' initiative.

Each year, as part of the Contego Pledge, the Newton Aycliffe-based pest control firm picks several of its employee’s charitable initiatives to support each year, and it matches their donations up to £1,000 per project.

So far, Contego has supported some amazing causes and charities such as Cancer Research, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Prostate Cancer UK, local foodbanks, and many more.

The company’s latest initiative is the ‘Save The Bees’ Campaign. As part of the campaign, Contego sent out over 500 packets of wildflower seeds to local schools, businesses, homeowners, and private landowners to encourage people to do more to protect their local environment.

Planting wildflower seeds attracts wildlife like bees and butterflies, and it greatly increases biodiversity, and improves the look and feel of the areas where people live and work.

Not to mention that it provides a great opportunity for children to learn about nature and the environment at school.

The company has received some fantastic feedback on the campaign, especially from the pupils at Pentland Primary School;

"Flowers make me feel happy."

"This is so much fun. I hope they are lots of different colours."

"We loved planting our wildflowers. We hope we get lots of bees visiting us."

Speaking about Contego Pledge, CEO Michael Taylor says that the sky is the limit when it comes to giving back to local communities.

"Contego Pledge is really at the heart of what we do. We are always looking for ways to help and to give back. It’s a tool we use to inspire and empower the amazing employees of Contego.

"Our funding promise has already helped with fundraising efforts for food banks, children’s hospitals, and cancer research. With so many employees continuing to engage with our Pledge, the sky really is the limit."

Contego is constantly supporting charitable causes. Raising money, helping local communities, and supporting employees is a big part of their ethos. Keep an eye out for more news on Contego’s charitable efforts for the rest of this year and beyond!
