BPCA shortlisted for Association Excellence Awards 2025

BPCA is delighted to announce that we’ve been shortlisted in two different categories at the Association Excellence Awards (AEA).

The Association Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate the work that associations, trade organisations, unions and industry bodies do for and on behalf of their members.

BPCA has been shortlisted in the following categories:

  • Sector Representation Award
  • Best Membership Engagement.

Sector Representation Award

Our nomination for this award is based on our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee's work on recruitment and retention in the industry.

The pest control sector faces a dual threat: a public misunderstanding of the profession and a looming workforce crisis, with 40% of technicians set to retire within the next decade. 

BPCA recognised that, without action, the industry would struggle to recruit, retain, and represent the diverse population it serves.

Our objective was simple yet powerful: to make pest management a more inclusive, welcoming, and representative profession. This meant removing barriers, challenging stereotypes, and providing our members with the tools they need to attract and support people from all walks of life.

We established a permanent Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee under the Executive Board, embedding this work into our strategic direction. Since then, we've launched a sector-leading EDI Toolkit, revamped recruitment support, created a structured onboarding framework, and are preparing to launch an EDI Charter for member companies.

We’ve also invested in inclusive communications and accessibility improvements across all BPCA channels, ensuring our actions match our ambitions.

Best Membership Engagement

BPCA set out to rethink how we engage our volunteer committees.

The challenge was simple: despite the passion and expertise of our committee members, the quarterly meeting structure meant their input was largely reactive.

The goal? To create a dynamic new model that moved from passive consultation to proactive co-creation.

We wanted to give our volunteers the structure, tools and space they needed to help shape BPCA’s future—bringing strategy to life through participation and ownership.

The outcome was BPCA's Volunteer Days, a collaborative two-day event spent pitching projects, progressing actions, and having deeper conversations around our strategy.

When will we find out who the winner is?

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony taking place in London on Friday, 7 November.

"Coming straight off the back of nominations for the Memcom Awards, we're thrilled that BPCA has once again been shortlisted for our collaborative work with the many passionate volunteers who are the backbone of what we do.

"The nominations highlight the importance of letting people within the industry lead on important topics while BPCA provides that much needed operational support to get the work done."
