Ficam W: sell-out deadline for pest control product approaching

BPCA member Bayer is reminding pest professionals that the sell-out date and use-up period for insecticide Ficam W is approaching.

 ficam w removal dates

Back in December, Bayer announced that Ficam W is to be removed from the market, following a vote from the EU Biocide commission.

  • 8 June 2020: sales of Ficam W will cease and the six month use-up period will commence
  • 10 December 2020: this is the last date for storage, disposal, and use of Ficam W.

Any stock held by distributors will have to be sold by the initial deadline of 8 June, but pest technicians can still store and use Ficam W until 10 December 2020.

“As the summer is the main activity period for most insects this use-up date is helpful to pest controllers, as they’ll be able to use the product to control a broad spectrum of insects up until the end of the year,” says Alan Morris, Bayer head of environmental science.

“Ultimately, this product is a big loss to the industry after offering successful pest control for over 40 years. This is another reason why Bayer constantly invest in research and development of new chemistry, to continue to deliver solutions to customers for the future.”

For more information on the withdrawal of Ficam W or advice on alternative solutions, please contact the Bayer Pest Solutions Team on 00800 1214 9451 or email pestsolutions@bayer.com.
