Howard Taffs selected as new Servicing Committee Chair

The BPCA Servicing Committee has selected Howard Taffs, Managing Director of Good Riddance Pest Control as the new Chair.

Howard Taff appointed Servicing Committe ChairHe replaces Philip Halpin, who has stepped down to focus on his new role as one of the two Vice Presidents of the Executive Board.

He was selected as replacement Chair by the Servicing Committee during the September Servicing Committee meeting. The Executive Board confirmed the nomination shortly after.

Howard has been working in pest control since 1984 and formed Good Riddance Pest Control in 2002, stating he believes “in putting customer service and professional integrity ahead of profit”.

Howard said to us regarding his appointment:

I’m really committed to improving the sector. I also want to give something back to the industry that’s given me a career. I would like to widen the Committee membership to increase diversity - I believe we are in danger of becoming a room full of ‘pale, stale males’, (to steal a quote from wiser heads) so I’d like to encourage people we don’t currently represent to apply to join the committee. I also want to expand the appeal of the committee and help BPCA to lead our sector forward.

A full interview with Howard will appear in the next issue of PPC Magazine.

In the same meeting, Philip Halpin confirmed he would be standing down from the Servicing Committee as a whole given the additional workload being an Executive Board officer entails.

He did however stress that he would miss the content of the agendas in the Servicing Committee meetings.

The BPCA Servicing Committee represents the interests of the service sector of the public health pest control industry, including influencing key decision makers in Government on legislative proposals.
