Defender Bird Spikes introduces Defender Jaws at PestEx 2026

PRESS RELEASE

Defender is proud to announce the launch of Defender Jaws, a new solar panel bird exclusion system, at PestEx 2026 at the Excel Centre in London this March.

Visitors can see the product in action on Stand 103, where the team will be demonstrating a faster, cleaner and more efficient approach to solar proofing.

No clips, no glue and halves install time.

Every minute on the roof costs. Defender Jaws was created to cut installation time in half.

The system uses a true snap fit design that removes the need for clips, silicone, screws or adhesives.

There are no loose parts to juggle and no extra fixings to manage. Installers simply take the strip from the box, press it onto the solar panel frame, and the job is done.

Defender Jaws is a one-piece moulded strip with integral attaching Jaws that lock securely onto the frame in seconds.

It fits the two most common solar panel frame sizes with reversible 30 mm and 35 mm Jaws, keeping warranties intact and allowing fast removal whenever maintenance is required.

Each strip is moulded from high-performance UV-stabilised polycarbonate, delivering strength, durability and long-term performance.

The sleek black finish makes the system discreet once installed and significantly improves its UV stability, which is why it comes with a 15-year material warranty.

Designed for real roof conditions, each strip carries nine prongs and can cover gaps under solar panels of up to 140 mm.

Cutting guides at 50 mm, 60 mm and 70 mm allow easy shaping over curved roof tiles. Installers simply snip to size for a clean, accurate fit.

Defender Jaws also delivers more than exclusion. Each strip includes two precision-moulded posts positioned above the Jaws, engineered to accept Defender Thistle spikes.

These will prevent pigeons and gulls from perching along the top edge of tilted panels, while also blocking nesting access underneath, creating a complete solar protection system from a single product platform.

Alongside the launch of Defender Jaws, visitors to Stand 103 will also find the full Defender Bird Spikes range, with over 20 different spike types available to cover every bird proofing requirement, from ledges and signage to parapets, beams and architectural features.

All our Defender spikes, including the Jaws, are manufactured by us, Jones & Son, in Devon, UK.

The Defender Bird Spike team will be on stand throughout the show.

Come and say hi to Davy and Kursty Jones, Holly, Haydon, and welcome Charlotte, who joins the sales team this year.

The team will be available for product demonstrations, technical questions and installation guidance.

For visitors looking for a bit of fun and friendly competition, Defender is also hosting the Hammer the Nail challenge.

Test your hand-eye coordination and pitch your hammer skills against fellow attendees in this light-hearted competition, managed by Harry and Alice Jones, who take no nonsense and cannot be bribed. Two trophies are up for grabs each day.

Defender Bird Spikes invites all PestEx 2026 visitors to Stand 103 to see Defender Jaws in action, explore the full bird proofing range, meet the team, and experience a smarter, faster way to protect solar installations.
