BPCA Registered | Individual recognition scheme for skills, qualifications and CPD

Introducing BPCA Registered

In the past, BPCA existed solely to support companies working in pest management.

After lots of feedback from members, we’re now recognising the individual contributions of staff members. We’ll do this through a scheme called BPCA Registered.

BPCA Registered recognises and records the qualifications and skills you earn throughout your career.

BPCA Registered Cards

By being a part of BPCA Registered you’ll get a BPCA Registered card. The card proves your commitment to professionalism and continued development to your clients.

Having our technicians recognised as BPCA Registered Technicians is great motivation for them and, as the scheme develops, will encourage our team to achieve higher qualifications. I think the ID card will also give our customers added assurance that they are in safe hands.

David Lodge, Beaver Pest Control

BPCA Registered is currently only available to employees of BPCA member companies.

Qualifications and BPCA Registered

To launch, BPCA Registered has three categories of membership. The catagory that you're in will be based on your qualifications.

Catagories of BPCA Registered

A BPCA Registered Affiliate is a member of staff associated with pest management but doesn’t manage public health pests themselves. They don’t need to hold any formal qualifications.

A BPCA Registered Trainee is a technical member of staff who hasn’t passed their Level 2 Award in Pest Management (or equivalent) but is working towards it. They can’t manage public health pests without supervision.

A BPCA Registered Technician is a technical member of staff who has passed their Level 2 Award in Pest Management (or equivalent).

More advanced qualifications can be added to the back of your BPCA Registered card at any time. So, if you’re a Certificated Field Biologist or an Advanced Technician in Pest Management, now you’ll be able to prove it to your clients. As they say – if you’ve got it, flaunt it!

I’m going to be a BPCA Registered Technician – and I intend to tell our customers that every day. I worked hard for my qualifications, and I genuinely seek out practical CPD opportunities to push myself. Now I’ll have a way of proving this to our clients.

Continuing professional development (CPD) and BPCA Registered

Your CPD isn’t limited to formal training and attending events or seminars. Much of a technician’s development comes from experience learned on the job.

A formal staff meeting with technical content is ‘structured’ CPD. These points are added in the traditional way.

If a colleague taught you something new while you were on a job, this would be an example of ‘unstructured’ CPD. You’ll be able to add these points yourself through your personal CPD account.

Whether it’s structured or unstructured CPD, you’ll get points based on how you maintain and improve your knowledge and skills.

Examples of acceptable CPD
STRUCTURED CPDUNSTRUCTURED CPD
Formal on-the-job training Informal on-the-job training
Accredited training Informal mentoring
Non-accredited training Technical advice

The BPCA Registered website allows you (or your employer) to record unstructured CPD points...
