Overview

For anyone working with food, safety is paramount. By understanding the basics of food safety, you can achieve a better result in our own job.

This e-learning course will engage you with its stimulating interactive elements, exercises and simulations to guide you through the content.

The course covers all aspects of the Level 3 syllabus in 21 hours of training and splits the teaching into easy-to-manage modules.

During the Level 3 Award in Food Safety programme, you will learn:

Microbiology
Food contamination hazards and controls
Food poisoning and foodborne disease
Personal hygiene
Storage/temperature control
Food spoilage and preservation
Food premises and equipment
Cleaning and disinfection
Pest control
Supervisory management/HACCP
Food safety legislation

This programme is suitable for pest control technicians, specialists and anyone interested in becoming a Technical Inspector, a Field Biologist or anyone who works around food.

This qualification is awarded by HABC.

Level: Advanced+
Prerequisites: 16+, L2 knowledge
Delivery: Online learning programme and online exam
Duration: 21 hours online learning
Additional Study: Up to L2 knowledge
Assessment: 90-minute online exam
BPCA Registered CPD points: 12

It's recommended that you hold a current Level 2 Certificate in Food Safety. You will be expected to have food safety knowledge to Level 2 standard.

Delivery

Online learning and online exam 

The online, e-learning course can be taken at any time. You'll need headphones to study the course material. 

You will have up to 6 months from booking the online course to study the course and take the HABC Level 3 Award in Food Safety online exam.

Exam results will take 2-4 weeks

Assessments

Upon completion of the e-learning course you will receive a BPCA/HABC Certificate of Completion.

You will then go on to sit the HABC Level 3 Award in Food Safety, 90 minutes, 45 Multiple Choice Question online exam with remote invigilation.

The qualification is awarded by HABC.

The course fee includes 6 months access to the online course material and online exam.

Please note: accommodation is not included in this course.

Course cancellations will only be accepted on receipt of written instruction and are effective from the date received by the BPCA.
